VANGUARD RESTORATION: THE FIRST FILMS OF THE WCF
I am proud to present this first line-up of films restored with the aid of the World Cinema Foundation. We launched the foundation in 2007 with the goal of restoring and preserving neglected films from around the world. We also understood, very quickly, that we needed to help create awareness of the films, to get them known and seen. That’s why we entered into a partnership with The Auteurs.
The diversity of these pictures reflects the foundation and all it stands for, but it also reflects world cinema itself, and the richness to be found in the lost corners of cinema history.
These films were made at different moments in history, under a variety of circumstances, all across the globe. Each title needed attention and care. I’m glad that the World Cinema Foundation was able to help with their restoration and preservation. Each and every title is precious to me, and my hope is that a viewing on this website will lead you to seek out screenings of these pictures or perhaps DVDs as they appear. They don’t deserve to be kept a secret. They deserve to be known.
TRUE/FALSE FILM FEST
In honor of the 7th annual True/False Film Festival, running from 25th – 28th February 2010, a retrospective selection of documentaries from past festivals will be playing on The Auteurs from the 12th – 28th February.
The festival highlights innovative work with a cinematic scope, creative takes on contemporary currents, and most of all work that provokes dialogue about its subject and the documentary form itself.

Showmatch es un show televisivo argentino producido por Ideas del Sur y conducido por Marcelo Tinelli. Se emite por El Trece. Es el sucesor del exitoso Videomatch que debió cambiar de nombre al actual tras cambiar de canal.
En los últimos años el programa había cambiado la temática, pero este año 2009, al cumplirse 20 años de estar al aire (Videomatch-Showmatch), el programa volvió a tener la temática de humor principalmente, con la vuelta de humoristas clásicos que estuvieron en los años más explosivos del programa, en la época que su nombre era Videomatch. Pero no está teniendo tanto éxito como se esperaba, Donde el rating llega a veces a menos de 20 puntos.
